Kindergarten Announcements
ELA
Students learned to summarize what they see in pictures and read in books. We also practiced fix-up strategies such as checking pictures and re-reading to clarify and better understand the text.
Our spelling words are: cup, hop, bat, bib, Bob, fat, fin, rap, rip
Math
We learned to solve Put Together, Total Unknown story problems. In other words, students are showing what happens in a story problem and solving it.
Writing
Students started opinion writing this week.
Social Studies
We answered the question, “How do we get goods and services that meet our wants and needs”. We shared examples of personal trades and completed the “trade” page in their “Economics Vocabulary Books”
Science
Force Olympics: We read a book about twins named Mimi and Lulu who try different ways to catch a mysterious nighttime visitor…until they hit on just the right solution. We learned how to be an inventor and designed a new machine that can do chores.
P2: Appreciation for Beauty and Excellence
You appreciate the world’s beauty and the amazing things people can do. This strength helps you notice things around you that make you feel good.
Conferences:
Please check your email for a conference requests from me. Requests were sent out last week so if you didn’t get an email, we don’t need to meet unless you want to. Thanks to all who signed up so quickly.
Thank you...
...to all of you for checking in with me about my Spartan last week. I felt loved and supported by my Lincoln family. What gave me hope last week (and every day) was seeing the love given out freely to friends and teachers by your children. You are raising incredibly kind kiddos and I am so encouraged about the future knowing that they are the next generation. I have no doubt their loving hearts will brighten up this dark world and make it a better place.
